Third CoronaDiary issue, morale is good, and we have some new faces writing over here โ actually names, since there are no photos.
Looks like morale is good, except for a person whose whole attitude almost always "meh-with-a-hefty-dose-of-skepticism" โ but we think that's what makes her so special ๐๐ธ.
On to the status updates, and do read on until the end, as I have a couple o very special recommendations to share with you.
Actually, this entry was supposed to contain some interesting podcasts to listen to, but I figured it would be better to share specific episodes, videos, or articles than to overwhelm you with huge shows with tons of episodes.
Morale: ๐โโ๏ธ๐ฅณFiring on all cylinders!!!
Today was a very calm day, I feel I am definitely getting into the flow of working from home. Today I also learned the importance of knowing whether a function handles bits or bytes, especially if you are converting it from one language to another.
Also, what is the deal with LinkedIn HR-people recruiting for positions involving relocation? I got a message asking if I would interested in an open position in...Milan.
Morale: ๐โโ๏ธ๐ฅณFiring on all cylinders!!!
Started the day feeling very meh (caused by the bug I wasn't able to finish yesterday) but a combination of a retro of the last release, which I was responsible of and went very well + the Coffee break we decided to have with the team on Hangouts (topics outside of work) caused a change in my inner feelings.
I was able to get back on the "Firing on all cylinders" mode which allowed me to close the nasty bug, followed by closing another important issue on WeRemote.EU as well.
Morale: ๐คทโโ๏ธ๐ฅฑMeh...
Decent work day, even learned something new (Yes, you can join in an SQL update!), but estimates are off so far, and the client is too undecided.
For sanity, I look forward to evening training sessions, and reading time before bed.
I am not bereft of human interaction, so much as people-watching.
Cats' need for food seems far less distracting to me than the possibility of impending doom, economical, or otherwise.

Some of you who haven't had the chance to work remotely until now, might feel like every day is a day off and that's the tricky part of this remote thing.
You need to be accountable with your time.
As I mentioned a few days ago, setting a couple of goals and taking breaks are two important aspects, to which I want to add the last one: discipline
Being disciplined means respecting yourself and your time.
Don't overthink it, don't overdo it.
Be flexible and you'll find your balance.

Twenty minutes of exercise, in the morning โ that was enough to set the tone for my whole day!
Felt energetic, and excited to do things. Had to wrestle with some WeRemote.EU bugfixes which I had to integrate into a different project for which I'm using WeRemote's codebase as the starting point. But that's part of the beauty of working in IT โ a field with one of the highest degrees of uncertainty.
Customer support โ really love doing it!
Went to bed waaay too late โ 2:15 AM โ because I started reading and time flew by. Watched a short and interesting documentary before bed โ available in the next section."
Worth watching
Two things I saw yesterday which I really liked:
- An interview with Jordan Peterson
- A short documentary about how they handle COVID-19 in Nanjing(Nanking)
Jordan Peterson Reveals How to Sell Anything to Anyone (clickbait-y IMO but good content)
Coronavirus: From 93 infected to 0, what did this Chinese City do to contain the virus?
Worth reading โ The plague, by Albert Camus
